Dale Street Methodist Church

Leamington Spa

Worship at Dale Street – April 2021

Should I come?

We’d love to see you, but before deciding to come to church, please check the latest government guidance for your age group and circumstances.

Feeling unwell?

Please do not come to church if you are showing symptoms of COVID-19 or feeling unwell.

Face coverings

Face coverings are required by law to be worn in places of worship. Face coverings will be available at the door if you haven’t brought your own.

Arriving at church

Please use the main Dale St entrance and queue keeping 2m apart following the 2m markers on the ground outside.

Entering the building

Please do not enter the building until a steward calls you. On entry, you will be offered hand sanitiser. Please use it to minimise the spread of the virus. To assist with government Test and Trace (if someone reports symptoms of COVID-19), a steward will make a note of your name and time of arrival. In accordance with government guidance, this information will be retained for 21 days then destroyed.  We have a QR code for you to check in on the NHS COVID-19 App.

Signs

You will see a number of signs around the building. They are designed to direct you and keep you, and other building users safe. Please follow any instructions.

Taking your seat

After registering your attendance, a steward will direct you into the sanctuary. Please go straight into church and don’t linger, following the arrows on the floor. Seating has been arranged to be 2m apart. We will provide seats for households or bubbles to sit together (up to 6 people). Please do not move the seats. If seats need to be moved, a steward will arrange this.

Worship

Worship will look and feel different. It will be shorter, with the Sunday morning worship lasting around 40 minutes. The preacher will remain on the raised area at the front of church. Everything you need during worship will be displayed on the screen. You may bring your own Bible.

There will be no singing, although music may be played.

Communion will be held monthly in line with government and circuit guidelines. We will use single use pots which will be brought to you in your seat.

Coughs and sneezes

Please catch any coughs or sneezes in a tissue or in your elbow. Used tissues should be put in a bin.

Leaving church

When worship has finished, a steward will direct you back out of the sanctuary. Please follow the arrows on the floor, keeping 2m apart. Please leave promptly. As you leave, you will be offered hand sanitiser. Please use it to minimise the spread of the virus. Tea and coffee won’t be served.

Toilets

Will be available. Please follow the signs and instructions for use. Please clean all surfaces touched using wipes provided and dispose of these in the bin.

Church full

In the unlikely event that we reach capacity, a steward will meet you at the door to say that church is full. Please don’t be offended if you’re refused entry.

Children and families

We are hoping to recommence 9.15 worship in June if the situation allows. In the interim Family Worship Time is available online. If children do come to worship, they should be supervised by their parents/carers at all times.  If children need something to look at, they will need to bring their own as there will be no toys or books available.
